Kekaha Homes for Sale

Kekaha, which translates to “The Place” from Hawaiian, is a census-designated place southwest of the main island of Kauai County, Hawaii. The small town is directly west of Waimea and southeast of the Barking Sands Airport. Kekaha lies on the very west side of Kauai, alongside beautiful white sandy beaches. Relatively removed from the busy part of Kauai, Kekeaha remains a remote rural district. Kekaha’s history includes a sugar plantation and today’s Pacific Missle Range Facility.  The community is along the Kaumualii Highway and features easy access to the similarly named Kekaha Beach. However, that beach, in particular, is not suitable for swimming, you can still enjoy the view and refreshing ocean air. For those planning a trek into the Waimea Canyon State Park and the many forest reserves to the north, Kekaha is the last town you can stock up on supplies and grab a bite to eat before getting into the wilderness for an exciting outdoor adventure.

Housing is a mix of plantation-era manager and worker homes, luxury homes, and Hawaiian homelands. There are no large condominium or resort developments in the area, making it an ideal home option for those looking for a more relaxed place to move into in Hawaii. The typical home model in town is ranch-style homes that come with three-bedrooms and a spacious open-floor layout. Typically the closer you get to the beach, the more expensive property prices are in the area. You’ll also find a good selection of custom-built houses with beautiful two-level designs and well-maintained yards.
